About

Hi, I’m Debbie, and I’m the Chief Quiller around here

I have been quilling since 2016, though was introduced to it a long time ago by a family friend. Since taking up the craft, I’ve been lucky enough to fall into selling my pieces, and it’s good, because I really love to quill, but I really don’t have that much space!

My living room is my studio, and I hand cut most of the paper that I use and supplement with traditional quilling paper from time to time.

The range of pieces I am able to create with paper is fun to explore, but my main love is making quilled paper bowls. The colours that can be included in these often make them spectacular, and they can also be used to create art pieces. Their versatility knows no bounds.

I have discovered a new interest in creating quilled landscapes, and although these take some months to complete, they are also extremely rewarding. I like to try to make the paper act like paint, but in a more pixelated form.

They are fascinating to the eye.

When I’m not quilling, I work on my other interest – EcoWild (you can click here to find us on Facebook! – where we share our journey into a more sustainable lifestyle. I also love spending time with my little dog, Ewok. He has slept at my feet through many a quilling project.

Whilst I am a born and raised Aucklander, I love spending time in Northland at Pakotai especially, where we roam a few acres of bush, enjoying the scenery and the native birds, and spend time resetting the batteries.

I’d love to get to know you too, so please do join along on my socials, or get in touch by clicking here, if you’ve already got a McQuilled piece in mind – I’d love to hear from you!
