When in lockdown, get the blues!

Or at least get creative with the blues.

Covid-19 has rocked the world, and certainly here in New Zealand, we have felt the full force of a Government trying to keep us all safe, by putting us into what will forever be remembered – Alert Level 4 Covid-19 lockdown.

When it began, I was far from interested in creating anything, yet at the same time I prepared by making sure I had all of my papers and some molds. It was always going to be a bowl that I fell back on making.

Recently I did my second Piha image, and in this image the sky really satisfied me. The blues in it were so bright, and I liked the rough ombre effect it had. I thought at the time it would look lovely in a bowl.

So I made it.

And it looks amazing! I crafted it as a large bowl, and blended up from light to dark. I’d been keen to hero the midnight blue that I have for a while, and this piece gave me that chance.

I can imagine this bowl with a couple of LED tealights in it, in a dimly lit room, with the light playing through the gaps in the circles. What do you think? Love it?
